Paul Blackwood is a self-taught Jamaican artist, who, from his early childhood days, had the desire to create works of art, and even had "fence exhibitions" in his home town of Whitehouse, Westmoreland in Jamaica. He started professional painting in June 1982 in Kingston on Trafalgar Road with the Trafalgar Artist Cooperative and in 1985, had his first international exhibition in London, England. Since then his career has burgeoned with numerous exhibitions both locally and internationally, including the USA, Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean.
In July 2006, Paul was honored as the "Best in the Show" at the Arts and Musical Festival that was held in Prince George County, Maryland, USA.
He has attributed all his success to wisdom from God and strong discipline. His works are mostly in oil and collages and he continues to strive for excellence while encouraging and assisting potential artists.
